Uproar in U.P. Assembly over lawyer’s death

The death of an advocate, Nabi Ahmed, allegedly in police firing, in the district court premises in Allahabad on Wednesday, rocked the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Thursday as the Opposition parties created a furore. The members slammed the role of the police in the incident. While the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Congress staged a walkout, the Bharatiya Janata Party stormed the Well demanding a debate on the issue. The House was adjourned twice during the Question Hour.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mohammad Azam Khan condemned the advocate’s killing and gave an assurance of increase in compensation to the deceased’s kin.
