Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday criticised the UPA government for hiking diesel and onion prices.
“The Congress-led UPA government derives pleasure from increasing prices. As long as the Congress remains in power at the Centre, it will be impossible to rein in inflation,” Mr. Kumar said here on the sidelines of an event held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jagdeo Prasad, a socialist leader in Bihar.
Meanwhile, Janata Dal (United) secretary-general and spokesperson K.C. Tyagi filed his nomination for the by-election to the Rajya Sabha on Saturday. The seat fell vacant following the resignation of rebel JD (U) Rajya Sabha member Upendra Kushwaha last in December last.
Mr. Kumar said the party decided to nominate Mr. Tyagi, a former MP, to the Upper House after deliberations with its coalition partners. The by-election will be held on February 14.
