U.P. Ministers to donate one month salary

May 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - LUCKNOW:

The Ministers of the Samajwadi Party Government will donate one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for providing help to the earthquake affected people in Nepal. This decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting presided over by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday.

Another important Cabinet decision was related to the medium through which relief would be provided to the quake hit people in the neighbouring country. All relief will now be routed through the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. The cost of relief provided earlier will also be borne by the Distress Relief Fund. This decision was taken in view of Nepal being coterminous to Uttar Pradesh and the massive loss of lives and property in the earthquake.

Talking to journalists after the Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister outlined the steps taken by the State Government to ameliorate the sufferings of the quake-hit people. “In addition to sending adequate number of buses to Nepal for transportation purposes, medicines, water, milk and edible items have been made available”, Mr. Yadav said. The Chief Minister added ambulances under the “108” Samajwadi Health Service and “102” National Ambulance Service have been provided for transporting the injured to the medical camps.
