U.P. initiates probe against 3 policemen

A probe was initiated on Thursday against three Uttar Pradesh policemen after a photo showing them walking along with a mob of men who were dragging on the ground an alleged lynching victim created outrage on social media.

The 45-year-old man, identified as Qasim, was beaten to death in Pilkhuwa of Hapur district on Monday evening allegedly over rumours of cow slaughter.

The victim was a cattle trader. The police, however, suspect the killing may have been due to a feud over a collision of motorcycles. All three policemen have been transferred to the police lines and an enquiry has been ordered.
