Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has directed officials to accelerate the pace of development works being carried out in the Naxal affected regions of the state, officials said here on Friday.

The Chief Minister nominated the Planning Department as the nodal department for the job on Thursday and directed the officers to review development work in the Naxal infested areas separately.

The state government has allocated separate funds for the development of Naxal affected districts, she said, adding only sensitive and honest officers should be posted in these areas.

She said officers who can ensure all round development of these areas should be given preference in postings and warned stringent action will be taken against erring officers.
