UP Governor accepts resignations of two ministers

Uttar Pradesh Governor B L Joshi today accepted resignations of Medical and Health Minister Anant Kumar Mishra and Family Welfare Minister Babu Singh Khushwaha, who took moral responsibility of financial discrepancies in their departments and had resigned.

The resignations, which were forwarded to the Governor by Chief Minister Mayawati, have been accepted, a Rajbhawan official said.

Babu Singh Khushwaha and Anant Kumar Mishra yesterday resigned from the Cabinet, owning moral responsibility for the irregularities detected in their departments after murder of a CMO of the State.

Chief Medical Officer of Family Welfare Dr B P Singh who was shot dead on April 2 near his house during a morning walk.

Meanwhile, the State government has given the charge of the departments held by the two ministers among Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Lalji Verma and Indrajeet Saroj.

Mr. Khushwaha also held Mining and Cooperative Department besides, Family Welfare.

It was not yet clear which department was allocated to which minister.
