July 02, 2016 04:14 am | Updated 04:14 am IST - Kolkata:

Allegations of sexual exploitation and marrying a minor against Munna Marandi, the son of Jharkhand Bharatiya Janata Party president, has rocked the ruling party in the State.

Local Congress leader Deepika Pandey Singh has accused Mr. Marandi of marrying a 11-year old girl in Godda district in Jharkhand earlier this week.

Governor apprised

“I have written about this matter to the Governor and the State Commission for Women,” Deepika Pandey Singh told The Hindu .

Alleging that the Marandis were putting the lives of minor girls in jeopardy, she said that she will think of future course of action and may even “make a formal complaint if no action is taken in two or three days”.

State BJP president Tala Marandi is yet to react to the allegations.

On Wednesday, another girl, a 16-year old, submitted a complaint to the State Commission for Women against Munna Marandi for sexually exploiting her for two years on the pretext of marriage.

She had previously approached a Godda court to lodge a complaint. Police allegedly refused to take the complaint initially.
