Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti returned to her Shyamla Hills residence in Bhopal on Friday night from Orchha after falling ill while campaigning. Ms. Bharti is the BJP candidate from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh.

After filing her nomination on Friday, she spoke at a rally in Sagar in MP where she said that if the BJP came to power the Ram Mandir issue would be resolved through an out-of-court settlement.

She remained closeted indoors with the BJP party sources hinting that she had been reprimanded for making comparisons between the BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi and former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee recently in Jhansi.

Party sources maintained that Ms. Uma’s candidature and her retreat in Bhopal was purely due to illness.
