ULFA ‘vice chairman’ Pradip Gogoi was on Friday granted bail by a TADA court here in three cases while a decision of some other cases will be taken on February 23.
TADA Judge Soneka Bora granted bail to Gogoi against a surety of Rs 1 lakh for each case and directed him not to leave Guwahati and also the state without the court’s permission.
Gogoi was also asked to surrender his passport and other related documents to the court. If he chose to live in his home town Sivasagar, he must regularly report to the police there, he was told.
The bail applications of three other cases in TADA court would be decided on February 23 along with one case of the group’s ‘publicity secretary’ Mithinga Daimary.
The government lawyer did not oppose the bail applications but sought an assurance that the duo would not jump the bail.
While Gogoi was arrested from Kolkata in 1998, Daimary was captured by the Royal Bhutan Army during Operation All Clear in 2003. Both are currently lodged in the Guwahati Central Jail.
