Two professors held for molestation

Two physical training professors of Mumbai University (Kalina campus) have been arrested by the Bandra-Kurla police on the charge of molesting three women staffers. According to a complaint filed by the women, professors Bapu Chaugule (39) and Nilesh Lohar (59) used to behave inappropriately with them, an investigating officer said.

One of the victims, a lecturer in physical training, said the two used to present themselves dressed inappropriately whenever she passed by the department bathroom. A sweeper complained that both professors used to grope her. A librarian, too, complained of inappropriate behaviour.

“The three women approached us three months ago. But the accused meanwhile approached the sessions court for bail. As the court rejected their anticipatory bail plea on Friday, we arrested them immediately,” the officer said.
