Two more persons were arrested and remanded to police custody till Thursday in connection with the murder of the former Communist party of India (Marxist) MLA, Pradip Tah, and senior party leader Kamal Gayen in West Bengal's Bardhaman's district last month.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who was handed charge of investigation by the Calcutta High Court, arrested two persons on Sunday evening and produced them before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate on Monday.
“We have arrested six persons in this case. While four persons are in judicial custody, the two arrested on Sunday have been remanded to police custody,” K. Jayaraman, DIG (Operations), CID told The Hindu .
Mantu Ghosh and Naba Kumar Roy arrested on the basis of information from the accused are said to be Trinamool Congress supporters.
Pradip Tah and Kamal Gayen were rallying support for the nation-wide strike called by trade unions on February 28 when they were attacked.
