Two militants killed in Kupwara in J & K

Two unidentified militants were killed in a fierce gun-battle in Kupwara district of North Kashmir on Sunday, a senior police officer said.

The militants were killed in Kachihama-Douban forest in Trehgam belt, 120 kms from here, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kupwara, Uttam Chand said.

The encounter started this afternoon when a joint party of police and army confronted a group of militants hiding in the forest area, he said, adding the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants were yet to be established.

The operation is continuing in the area.
