: Witnessing a huge rush since it started providing ‘CNG Vehicle’ stickers at its filling stations from Tuesday, the Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (IGL) has already pasted more than two lakh such stickers on CNG-run vehicle that will exempt them from the odd-even scheme.

All CNG filling stations of IGL, where the work of pasting stickers on CNG run vehicles started from 6 am on December 29, have been witnessing a lot of rush and serpentine queues.

An IGL spokesperson said that the work of pasting stickers is being carried out round the clock at 114 CNG stations across Delhi and NCR. He also said that CNG vehicle owners needn’t worry as the work will continue 24X7, as there is no last date to get these stickers.

The major reason behind the queues is that each vehicle is being checked to see if these are compliant and have authorised CNG cylinders, apart from other documentation. The tamper-proof sticker is also not just handed over to car owners but pasted by IGL officials on the front windscreens of the vehicles. “This is being done at a very fast pace and as per all the guidelines,” he said.

These procedures take up some time but is necessary to ensure only genuine CNG-run vehicles are provided stickers, he said. He said that till 5 pm on Wednesday, more than two lakh vehicles got their stickers.

More than five lakh stickers have been printed by IGL, as there are approximately five lakh CNG vehicles in Delhi and the NCR.
