Two persons, including a woman, were killed and seven injured when several crude bombs went off at a house at Metiabruz area in Kolkata on Sunday night, police said.

The bombs exploded around 9 p.m. in the ground floor of a three-storied building of Masjidtala locality when about 15 embroidery workers were on work there.

Rajia Khatun and Shamir Khan, both 30 years of age, died in the explosion. The injured were shifted to the State-run SSKM Hospital.

The condition of some of the injured were stated to be serious, sources said.

The police are investigating why the bombs were kept in that house and whether any anti-social element was involved in the incident.

The entire area was cordoned off, but no arrest made.
