One person died on the spot and another on the way to the hospital when a lorry carrying sand ran over a two-wheeler near the Sellipattu bridge here on Monday.
According to the police, Sarathy (17) and Anbu (20), along with another person, were riding on a motorcycle. Sarathy was killed on the spot while Anbu died on the way to the hospital. The third person escaped with minor injuries, police said.
When the news of the accident spread to the nearby locality to which the victims belonged, an angry mob set the lorry on fire. The police have registered a case against the driver who is absconding.
