Two arrested, 18 kg of poppy straw recovered in J&K

Two persons have been arrested in south Kashmir’s Mattan town and 18 kg of poppy straw was recovered from their possession, police said here.

The arrested accused have been identified as Arif Ahmad Mir and Shamim Ahmad Thakur, both residents of Bijbehara in Anantnag district, they said, adding a bag containing the poppy straw was also recovered from a vehicle in village Foher.

A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered against the two persons.
