Tripura Police is all set to launch a sophisticated online system to record crimes and track criminals in the State. Intelligence units and police stations would be connected to the Police headquarters through the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS).

“The system would also have ready feeds about court cases, offenses registered with police, personal details and history of criminals besides extremists active in the State”, a police official said on Tuesday.

He said the system would help track law and order issues as well progress in investigation and prosecution of cases. Apart from the police, plaintiffs would also be benefited from the system, he said.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, who holds the Home portfolio, will formally launch CCTNS on January 3, 2014 to mark annual Tripura Police Day.
