Senior CPI(M) leader and tribal welfare minister Aghore Debbarma fell prey to snake bite at his official residence.

A close relative said on Tuesday that he was bitten in the bathroom on Sunday midnight, but was immediately administered anti-venom.

Mr. Debbarma, a member of CPI(M) central committee, had faced another unusual incident sometime back when his pet dog bitten him.

“The snake was not poisonous. Still he is taking medicines as per advise of the doctors”, the relative said.

Mr. Debbarma is widely known as an animal lover. He pets a number of species at his residence.

Mr. Debbarma could not attend the special one day session of state assembly to mark its golden jubilee celebration on Monday afternoon due to health hazard.

He left the assembly premises at end of photo session of members of the assembly.
