The body of a Trinamool Congress worker allegedly killed by the Maoists was found on Sunday in West Midnapore district, police said.

Hemanto Mahato, 35, was forcibly taken away from his house in Sankrail area last night by the Maoists, they said, adding that his bullet-ridden body was found this morning.

In posters kept near Mahato’s body, the ultras claimed that he was a police informer and was involved in extorting money from locals.

Local Trinamool leaders, however, allege that the murder is a handiwork of CPI(M) leaders.
