A Trinamool Congress team, which on Wednesday visited a tribal woman gang-raped at Bhilai Khera in Kandwa district of Madhya Pradesh on June 10, said she was under “severe trauma.”

“The torture is visible with cut marks on her forehead,” Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, Rajya Sabha member, who led the team to the village, told The Hindu on the phone from Madhya Pradesh.

Mr. Roy said Kakuli Ghosh Dastidar, Arpita Ghosh and Uma Soren, MPs, met the victim in hospital. They spoke to the people of the village and met her parents living in an adjoining village. “We also urged the district police to take proper steps for her rehabilitation and ensure confidence among the local people,” he said.

The team’s visit is seen as a “tit for tat” by the Trinamool Congress as the BJP, which rules Madhya Pradesh, had sent two teams to West Bengal to look into cases of political violence.
