Trinamool leader sought Rs. 4 crore from Saradha chairman, alleges rebel MP

September 24, 2013 12:38 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:05 pm IST - KOLKATA:

Intensifying his attack on the Trinamool Congress leadership, dissenting party MP Kunal Ghosh has accused a party leader of demanding Rs. 4 crore from Saradha Group Chairman and Managing Director Sudipta Sen.

“Among the Trinamool Congress leaders who are seeking my resignation is a leader who had demanded Rs. 4 crore from Saradha Group chairman Sudipta Sen. Mr. Sen himself once told me this,” Mr. Ghosh told journalists on Monday, threatening to disclose the leader’s name if “unnecessary harassment” against him did not stop.

The Rajya Sabha MP, who has been show-caused by the party for “anti-party” activity following his public remark on September 20 that he had been made a “scapegoat” in the multi-crore Saradha scam, has been venting his ire against the party since then.

The police questioned him on September 21 and 22 in connection with the scam.
