A speeding train on Saturday ran over five rail maintenance staff, including an inspector, near Kamhau railway station under Mughalsarai division of ECR in Bihar’s Rohtas district, an official said.

The permanent way inspector (PWI) Nathu Prasad and four labourers were carrying out maintenance works on track when they were run over by 12988 Ajmer-Sealdah Express at around 12.30 pm, as they failed to sight the approaching train due to poor visibility conditions, ECR chief PRO Arvind Kumar Rajak said.

The bodies have been removed from the track and brought to Sadar hospital at Sasaram for post-mortem, Mr. Rajak said.

A formal probe has been ordered into the incident, he said, adding that Sasaram railway station manager Arvind Kumar and other officials rushed to the spot.
