A toddler died due to alleged negligence of a government doctor in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir following which he was suspended.

18-month-old Sumreena Bano was on Thursday taken to the clinic run by paediatric specialist Dr Rattan Singh Manhas in Doda for treatment, Shaheda Begum, mother of the infant, said.

“We took our daughter for routine checkup as she was suffering from fever and common cold. Dr Manhas gave her an injection when the child’s condition deteriorated,” the mother alleged.

The girl’s mother alleged the doctor shifted her to the Doda district hospital.

As the news of the death spread, people gathered outside the clinic and demanding suspension and arrest of the doctor.

Later in the evening, Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr Kulbhushan ordered the suspension of Dr Manhas. - PTI
