September 07, 2014 01:41 am | Updated 01:41 am IST - MUMBAI:

Three alleged shooters of the Ravi Pujari gang were arrested by the Mumbai crime branch on Friday for hatching a plan to kill a Mumbai-based journalist.

The three, identified as Madanchand Sonkar alias Francis, Ashutosh Verma and Rambahadur Chavan, were allegedly hired by gangster Ravi Pujari who ordered the killing of a young crime reporter from a leading broadsheet in Mumbai. Pujari was reportedly upset about the reporter referring him as a chindichor (small fry) in a recent article authored by him. The article also stated that the threat calls made by Ravi Pujari were in a bid to get publicity.

The three have been booked under certain sections of Arms Act and for abetment to murder under IPC.
