Three National Democratic Front of Bodoland militants, belonging to the Ranjan Daimary-led action, were killed in separate encounters in Assam on Thursday and a suspected camp of the banned outfit unearthed.
An NDFB(D) insurgent was killed during an encounter with police in Sonitpur district along the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh, official sources said.
At Akhabari in Udalguri district, another NDFB ultra was gunned down when he exchanged fire with the Army. An AK-47 rifle, a pistol, explosives and documents were recovered from him, they said.
During operations by the Army’s Red Horns division, another NDFB militant was killed and a camp suspected to be of the underground group was unearthed at Mazbat in Sonitpur district on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, defence sources said.
All the three slain rebels were yet to be identified, the sources added.
Meanwhile, two NDFB extremists — Saroda Basumatary and Amit Basumatary — surrendered before police at Rangapara in Sonitpur district and deposited a pistol with ammunition.
