April 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:49 am IST - FARIDABAD:

Three minors, who had escaped from the Juvenile Correction Centre by breaking the lock of the main gate a day before, were detained on Friday.

Following a tip-off, a team of NIT police station mounted a raid in Palwal on Friday afternoon and detained the three. “The three are being brought back to Faridabad,” said Inspector Naresh Kumar, Station House Office, NIT police station.

The trio had broken the lock of the Juvenile Correction Centre on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday and escaped. The security guard of the centre was sleeping at the time of the incident, the police said. The matter came to light when the fellow inmates got up in the morning and informed the authorities.

“While two of the inmates are facing murder charges, the third was detained in connection with a snatching case. All three belong to Palwal,” said Mr. Kumar.
