Three Maoists surrender in Bastar

Three members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) surrendered before police in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Friday night.

Manohar Hiraman (35), Rajesh Sampath (30) and Raju Kawachi (27), who were members of the Barda Local Operating Squad (LOS) of the Peoples’ Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) of the CPI (Maoist), surrendered before Kondagoan district Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishekh Meena, said the police.

All three Maoists have number of cases against them related to blasts, arson and firing on police teams, claimed the police.

Kondagoan district of Bastar region had witnessed 16 surrenders and four arrests of PLGA cadres and local militias of the Maoists last month.

All the surrendered Maoists have expressed a wish to join the mainstream and live a settled life, informed the police.
