NAGPUR: Three members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) were arrested by the police in the insurgency-hit Narayanpur district in south Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.
“A DRG (District Reserve Guard) party, headed by a subdivisional police officer, was sent to Tumiradi village after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of some Maoists in the village. This police team encircled the village and nabbed three Maoists,” said Santosh Singh, the Superintendent of Police, Narayanpur district.
The arrested Maoists were identified as Vijay Dhruva, Gore Hichami and Maniram Dhruva. “Vijay Dhruva had joined the Maoist Local Operative Squad in 2006 and worked for the Maoists’ company number 5 until 2009. He was asked to go back to his village by the Maoists to act as their overground worker and help them in planning violent attacks on the security forces. All three were also involved in two recent attacks on police parties in Gundul village and Bogan village,” the SP added.
The police also recovered a locally made firearm from Vijay Dhruva.
