December 06, 2013 04:52 pm | Updated 04:52 pm IST - Mumbai:

Three labourers died while four others were injured after a boiler exploded in a scrap yard in Dombivali, on the outskirts of Mumbai. The incident happened around 9.30 a.m. on Friday.

Five fire engines and three water tankers were rushed to the spot. The fire was doused in an hour's time and the officials took another couple of hours to clean up the area.

"A boiler was sold in scrap and one of the parts exploded. The intensity of the explosion can be gauged from the fact that the parts flew and fell around 500 meters away from the shop, "a fire brigade official told The Hindu .

"The area has now been sanitised. The injured have been shifted to a civic hospital in the locality. A few of them have sustained serious burn injuries," added the official.
