Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday charged Team Anna with attempts at creating unrest in the country with the help of “false propaganda and malicious canards.” The same people who tried to malign the former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, were trying their tricks with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he charged.

“These people know that they cannot come to power on the basis of policies, programmes and ideology. The past experiences have proved that. The present attempt is to mislead the people with false propaganda and spread of misinformation,” Mr. Gehlot said, talking to journalists at the Pradesh Congress Committee office here.

Terming the charges against Ms. Gandhi and Dr. Singh as “unfortunate,” Mr. Gehlot noted that both had an “unblemished image” in public life. “Ms. Gandhi has the image of a person who gave up the post of the Prime Minister, while Dr. Singh, who is a renowned economist, is also known for his integrity,” he noted.

“As I have been telling earlier also, the JP movement was also created in a similar fashion. However, the outcome proved disappointing for even Jayaprakash Narayan. The party which had taken birth out of the movement too proved transient. The government failed to deliver paving the way for the return of Indira Gandhi to power at the Centre, while the Janata Party broke up within a few years,” Mr. Gehlot said.

“As in the past, the present charges levelled by the Anna supporters against Ms. Gandhi and Dr. Singh have no basis. They are all figment of someone's imagination,” Mr. Gehlot said.

“Among the supporters of Anna are those who levelled charges against Rajiv Gandhi in the Bofors gun purchase. Nothing could be proved so far on that front too, while the Indian Army's victory in the Kargil war established the quality of the Bofors gun,” he noted.

Does Anna team has an ideology or a strategy ? this would have been
the question poped up in many minds after Anna's second strike. Have
you ever had a serious thought about it ? If so what was the answer
you got? considering anti-corruption itself is not an ideology or a
strategy - is it not a concept that needs a radical change in Indian
society which spawns leaders in all areas of life, including
politicians, bureaucrats and business men?
Now are we saying our society is constantly failing to produce people
to lead our country, is our country a failure ? If these questions are
asked in this order, vast majority of our countrymen will definitely
say Ours is a success story - a story of a 60 year old country which
sends indigenous satellites to moon, are we not amazing ? Have not we
done enough to justify our ability? Answer should be a YES. Now from
that happy mood lets swiftly think how we can improve further, we need
modern laws, safe indigenous energy sources.. 17 chars left-bye

She(ms. sonia) didn't give up PM post. Indian constitution doesn't grant permission for a foreign women to be a PM. Its so pathetic that our own CM's doesn't know much about constitution. :(

Instead defending his leaders for their clean image and integrity let them to face the charges made against them by Anna team and sue them with defamation case feels harm to their image and respect. In Anna team two well knows lawyers existing and made charges on the basis of document which they have and same thing sent to the government as well to initiate action against those who listed. Politicians are not simple sit if they have not committed mistake and someone before media alleged that they have involved directly or indirectly in corruption and misusing of office.

Unrest is already there in Mera Bharat Mahan since corruption has
widely spread into all our systems. more precisely corruption is more
into govt sector than private. dept of education, health, food and
public distribution tops the list. name any govt department one will
find employees of all grades receiving/offering kickbacks. mr Gehlot
looks desperate to show his allegiance towards his party but these
politicians don't see what a common man suffers in day to day life.
Today its Anna Hazzare and tomorrow more like him will rise and speak
against ruling parties until the real unrest caused by corrupt
politicians and their policies comes to an end.

Lets make Anna as PM and all his advisors as the protfolio miniters that makes lot of sense. else all politicians should be in jail as they are into dipropotionate to the know assets or crimes against public.

If people of India favours this I would be the most happiest person but this should be only for a time period to test the teams capability.

Its really unfortunate that a premier news paper like the hindu is paying heed and publishing such biased comments from a politician.Everyone knows what the country is going through. This govt. has broken all earlier records of corruption and is eyeing a place in guiness book of world record in case of corruption. So plz let the people of India decide who is what.

Why do papers like THE HINDU , give space and attention to such utterances of non -entitys ??There are pertinent questions the media can themselves ask Mr MMS and the Congress ministers , based on the allegations raised & dossiers presented by Team Anna . And the media can ask or insist for answers based on which , let people of India decide who is innocent and who is guilty.
The way things are going in the country , unrest is a certainity in the near future . Team Anna is not responsible - those in power wil be solely responsible , for turning a deaf ear to the citizens demands .

Mr. Ashok Ghelot should understand that all the people of the country
are fools. We are all watching how the public money is being misutilised
by the Congress Govt. People are becoming poorer and poorer. In fact
congress has lot its credibility long ago. The next election will prove
this point. Congress ministry is infested with more corrupt ministers
and the people of the country is fed up with these bands. Please don't
try to shield these people who worth nothing now.

The statement from Mr.Gehlot must be taken with a pinch of
salt.Everyone knows that Big corporations and business houses and also
Multinational corps, Defence contractors, 3G Mobile operators , Mine
owners have bribed our Central Cabinet Ministers and the paybacks have
even reached the Gandhi family. Not only that bribes must have been
payed to Senior leaders in BJP and other major parties like SP etc.
So, CBI should investigate all these crooks and I am sure that more
than 50% of Ministers, MPs, MLA's & other Politicians will be found
guilty of corruption and they might need to build special jails to
house these crooks.

Team Anna is definitely creating unrest, but it is created only in the hearts of corrupt politicians and nowhere else. By the way, if your party is great in terms of policies, programmes and ideology, why is it that it has not been able to get a mjority on its own in the Lok Sabha for many years now? In how many States are you ruling even along with other parties? If your party is all that great, why is the party so dependent on one family for providing its leader? Why is your Prime Minister a Rajya Sabha member? You should thank God for your party's good fortune so far and not belittle other parties. You should start preparing now itself for the calamitous fall in 2014.
