A teacher, her husband and their two children were on Wednesday held in connection with the unnatural death of a 12-year-old student of the Sapphire International School here, the police said.

The arrested were identified as Hindi teacher of the school Naziya Hussain, her husband Arif Ali Ansari and their 12-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son, Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Dwivedi told reporters.

An alleged love affair between the victim, Vinay Mahato, and the 12-year-old girl appeared to be the motive behind the killing. The couple’s 16-year-old son ‘warned’ Mahato to stay away from his sister. When the boy did not listen, the son allegedly attacked Mahato who fell unconscious, the SSP said.
