Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has called upon the voters of the Indira Nagar constituency in Puducherry to teach a lesson to the ruling N.R. Congress in the by-election, alleging that the government led by N. Rangasamy had failed to implement welfare schemes, besides leaving law and order in a shambles.

“There are reports that rice distribution has been stopped. Education Minister P.M.L. Kalyanasundaram has been caught sending a proxy to write his SSLC supplementary examination and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy is maintaining silence over the issue instead of taking action against the Minister,” Ms. Jayalalithaa said in a statement.

She accused the N.R. Congress of having betrayed the AIADMK after the elections and forming the government against the alliance dharma. “Now he has nominated his nephew in the constituency leaving his own partymen in the lurch. His actions pave the way for family rule in the Union territory.” Ms. Jayalalithaa said that if elected, AIADMK candidate A. Venkateswaran would fulfil the aspirations of the voters in the constituency.
