Tehelka co-founder Tarun Tejpal's mother, Shakuntala Tejpal, passed away on Sunday at his house at Moira in north Goa. His mother was suffering from cancer and was hospitalised in Mapusa in north Goa some months back. Mr. Tejpal, allegedly accused in woman colleague sexual assault case had sought bail stating that he needed to be with his mother who was sick. However, the bail was denied. He had >recently met his ailing mother at a Mapusa hospital after obtaining permission by the Court.
Tejpal’s family will move the city Fast Track Court on Monday seeking permission for him to attend his mother’s funeral, sources close to family said. The funeral is most likely to be held on Monday, said Mr. Tejpal's a lawyer.
Mr. Tejpal is >presently in judicial custody and lodged at Sada Sub-jail in Vasco in south Goa.
