Tandon sworn in as Chhattisgarh Governor

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Balram Das Tandon was sworn in as the governor of Chhattisgarh on Friday.

The Chief Justice of Bilaspur High Court Justice Yatindra Singh administered the oath of office to Mr. Tandon at a ceremony in Raj Bhavan here, which was attended by the Chief Minister, the State Cabinet Ministers and other dignitaries.

One of the founding-members of Jansangh, 87-year-old Tandon, has held many political postings during his long political career, including that of the deputy chief minister of Punjab.

A six-time MLA, Mr.Tandon was also the Punjab State BJP president for two years.

After taking the oath of office, Mr. Tandon said: “I pray to God to help us in creating a cheerful atmosphere in the State.”
