Tamils in Manipur celebrate Pongal

Tamil settlers in Moreh, the border town of Manipur, celebrated Pongal in a befitting manner at the Sunrise Youths Club ground. There was an 11 km marathon race from Khudengthabi Assam Rifles check post to Moreh. Hundreds of enthusiastic men and women participated in the race.

Tamil Sangam Moreh and Sunrise Youths Club also organised a football match in the area. Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Labour Minister I. Hemochandra, MLAs D. Korungthang, Victor Keishing, Y. Surchandra, Yamthang Haokip and other high officials of the army were present in the celebration. The ministers distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions.
