Supreme Court extends Tejpal’s interim bail

The Supreme Court on Friday extended the interim bail granted to the former Tehelka editor, Tarun Tejpal, till Tuesday in a sexual assault case involving a junior colleague.

A vacation Bench of Justices Vikramjit Sen and Shiva Kirti Singh said Mr. Tejpal’s bail would continue even as the Goa police raised apprehensions of “some kind of surveillance” on the victim.

The matter will now come up for hearing before a regular Bench on Tuesday when the court re-opens after summer holidays.

The Goa Police objected to the bail extension, stating that the boyfriend of the victim received fake e-mails asking him to share “all the pictures and all the mails concerning the incident.”
