The Bharatiya Janata Party in an expected move has decided to field Narendra Thakur, a son of its founder-member and party stalwart from Hamirpur, Thakur Jagdev Chand from the Sujanpur Assembly seat.

Mr. Narendra Thakur recently rejoined the BJP when the Sujanpur seat was vacated by Rajendra Rana an independent MLA and a close aide of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal. Mr. Rana is now fighting the Lok Sabha elections as a Congress candidate against Mr. Dhumal’s son Anurag Thakur.

Mr. Rana who fought the Sujanpur Assembly elections as a BJP rebel was weaned away by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and was made the Congress candidate.
