Stern action will be taken against anybody found guilty in the Stephen Court fire that took lives of 43 people, West Bengal Urban Development minister Asok Bhattacharjee said on Tuesday.

On the 11—member committee headed by former Chief Secretary S. N. Roy formed by the government to investigate the fire which broke out on March 23, Mr. Bhattacharjee said, “We will not say anything unless the committee report is placed before the government. Stern action will be taken against anyone found guilty.”

The committee, which would also suggest amendments in existing rules and of the West Bengal Fire Services Act, has been asked to submit its report within three months.
