A senior official of the Bihar Sarvasiksha Abhiyan was locked in a room on Sunday by angry villagers for over four hours at Kasturbagandhi residential school at Panchdei in Gopalganj district, official sources said.

The incident occurred when the Additional District Project Officer of the state sarvasiksha abhiyan Markeshji visited the school this morning and started an inquiry into a cylinder blast at the school yesterday.

On hearing of his presence, the villagers rushed to the school and lambasted the official for alleged irregularities in the mid-day meal scheme. They later picked up a quarrel and locked him in a room, the sources said.

The villagers freed him after local public representatives assured them of doing the needful with respect to their complaint, the sources added.
