A 27-year-old Spanish woman was not only raped but also sodomised by Badshah alias Anwar Ali Ansari (30) in the city on Monday, the police told court on Wednesday.
The police, while filing an application seeking remand of the accused, slapped Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (unnatural offences) on him. The court remanded him in judicial custody till November 9.
The police told the court that after an identification parade, they would seek police custody of Badshah. As the victim wanted to go back to her country, they would conduct the identification parade first. Since the accused was not co-operating, the police needed his custody to know about robbed goods — a camera, a wristwatch, euros and rupees.
Badshah, who was produced in a veil in the court, has been booked under Sections 452, 392, 376, 377 and 506(2) of the IPC. He, however, claimed that he had been implicated in the case.
The Spanish woman, who has been living in the city for the past six months in a rented apartment, filed a complaint with the Bandra police on Monday claiming that a man raped and robbed her of personal belongings.
According to the police, the accused is facing nearly 30 cases of house break-ins and robberies. He tried to molest two women in the past. The police identified him by his modus operandi. He was recently arrested for robbery in the house of actor Dino Morea, but was released on bail by a local court.
