To create awareness among the people about the welfare schemes launched by the Samajwadi Party government, a fortnight-long cycle yatra will be launched in the State from August 1.

The cycle yatras will be a medium for publicising the schemes with the “yatris” undertaking a village-to-village campaign. The programme will conclude on August 14 with a public meeting at the district headquarters. After the conclusion of the cycle yatras, a three-day training camp for party workers from Bundelkhand and Madhya Pradesh will be held in Jhansi and Orchha on August 20, 21 and 22.

About 800 party workers from the seven districts in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh and 200 workers from Madhya Pradesh will attend the training camps.

The decisions, with an eye on the 2017 Assembly elections, were taken at the meeting of the party’s State Parliamentary Board on Saturday.

Presided over by Chief Minister and State president of the party, Akhilesh Yadav, the meeting was attended by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey and senior ministers, Shivpal Singh Yadav, Ahmed Hasan and Arvind Singh “Gope”.

The meeting was informed that 75 per cent of booth committees have been constituted since April 1 this year. A team would be constituted in each division, which would submit its report to the party president.
