SP accuses BSP of power misuse

November 11, 2009 07:27 pm | Updated 07:27 pm IST - LUCKNOW:

The Samajwadi Party on Wednesday attributed its defeat in the Uttar Pradesh by-elections to the misuse of the Government machinery by the ruling Bahujan Samajwadi Party.

This emerged from the poll review meeting convened by the Samajwadi Party president, Mulayam Singh at the party headquarters here. The meeting was attended by the party candidates, who contested the polls. Mr. Singh’s daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav, who contested the Firozabad Lok Sabha by-election, was conspicuous by her absence.

A release issued by the party spokesman, Rajendra Chaudhary said that the SP president was apprised of the highhandedness of the Government officials and the police. The candidates alleged that

while Central forces were deployed in areas where the SP was strong, U.P. Home Guards personnel were deployed in areas where the BSP held sway.

Addressing the partymen, Mr. Singh exhorted them to rally against the present regime’s misrule, the release added.
