The Gujarat High Court on Monday rejected the bail application of IPS officer Rajkumar Pandian, one of the principal accused in the Sohrabuddin-Kausarbi murder case.

Change of circumstances

Pandian had moved the plea claiming change of circumstances and citing the grant of bail to the former Minister of State for Home, Amit Shah, a co-accused in the case. The Central Bureau of Investigation opposed his bail plea. The CBI counsel, K.T.S. Tulsi, had alleged that Pandian was threatening witnesses even from the prison.

The CBI also contended that Pandian was one of the prime accused and involved in the conspiracy to commit murder and should not be granted bail.

Parity

Pandian's counsel, citing Mr. Shah's case, said bail should be granted to him on grounds of parity in the changed circumstances. Justice M.R. Shah, however, accepted the CBI arguments and rejected the bail plea.
