Slight intensity earthquake shakes Punjab

A slight intensity earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale on Thursday shook many places of Punjab.

Tremors were felt in Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Gurdaspur districts at 3.43 p.m. and lasted for a few seconds, the MeT Department said.

There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or property.

The epicentre of the quake was in the Hoshiarpur-Himachal Pradesh border region, they said.

Meanwhile, reports from Shimla said tremors were also felt in several parts of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh.

No loss of life or property was reported.
