“My son passed LKG with good marks and we had a celebration at home. And today, he is no more,” said a shocked mother of six-year-old Vamsi Krishna, who died after being hit by a cricket ball on Thursday evening.

Vamshi Krishna was batting when the ball hit him. The boys were playing at the Sahara Estates on Thursday.

“He collapsed on the ground. Alerted by other boys, locals rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” Vanasthalipuram ACP Bhaskar said. The police said that all the boys playing were below 12 years.

“Though it is clear that no one had any intention of causing injury, a case has been registered and investigation is on,” Mr. Bhaskar said.

The case has been registered under Section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code.

Vamshi’s parents said annual examination results of Vamsi were declared on Thursday and he had secured A grade. Vamshi's father works as a mason and had shifted here from Prakasam district.
