Six members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) were arrested by the police from different parts of Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
The arrested Maoists include a couple, Madavi Joga and Madavi Gangi, who worked for Maoists’ military company no.2 and carried a reward of Rs. 8 lakhs on each.
“Madavi Joga and Madavi Gangi were involved in some major attacks on police teams in last ten years including the Ranibodali school attack in which 55 policemen were massacred and the attack on Gidam police station in Dantewada,” informed Dantewada district Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamlochan Kashyap.
Apart from the Maoist couple, Dantewada police also arrested Bhima Kunjam, Jayram Raut, Madkam Bhima and Podia alias Pillu Madavi from Bacheli area of the district.
“Madkam Bhima, Podia Madavi and Bhima Kunjam worked as the Maoist Militia members while Jayram Raut was a member of Maoists cultural wing Chetna Natya Manch (CNM). All four were involved in different incidents of attacks on police and CRPF teams and explosions. They were nabbed during a special anti-Naxal operation of Dantewada police,” said a press statement issued by Dantewada police.
