Thirty people were injured, dozens of vehicles put on fire and properties damaged during clashes between supporters of the IPFT and non-tribal city dwellers.
The IPFT held the rally to push its demand for creation of a separate State for 33 per cent minority tribal population.
West Tripura District Magistrate Milind Ramteke on Wednesday said the situation was under control and security arrangements were in place.
He appealed to the media to refrain from publishing and broadcasting provocative news and photographs and support efforts of the administration to restore complete normalcy.
