The condition of the former West Bengal Chief Minister, Siddhartha Shankar Ray, who was admitted to a hospital here on Saturday, was reportedly stable.
According to a member of his personal staff, Mr. Ray fell in the bathroom a week ago and he was finding it difficult to move about.
According to a medical bulletin issued on Sunday, the 89-year-old Mr. Ray was kept under close observation and his condition continued to remain stable. He was undergoing a thorough check-up and would be subjected to further investigations if required.
“He has had a renal and cardiac condition for a long time. We are also carrying out tests for various age-related diseases,” a hospital spokesperson said.
Governor M.K. Narayanan and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee visited Mr. Ray.
