Actor Shah Rukh Khan, owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), an Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 team, has drawn the ire of the Shiv Sena for his stand on the alleged “boycott” of Pakistani cricketers in the IPL-3 auction.
Mr. Khan had rued the exclusion saying the League should have invited everyone. He came under heavy criticism for his point of view in a statement by Sena MP Sanjay Raut.
Following Mr. Raut’s postulations, Sena supporters went on the rampage tearing posters of Mr. Khan’s upcoming movie, My Name is Khan.
Speaking to The Hindu on the phone, Mr. Raut said such incidents were reported from Nashik, Pune, Thane and Mumbai. “If he [SRK] has the guts, he must take them [Pakistani players] in his team.”
