Seven suspected Maoists killed in Gadchiroli

Seven suspected Maoists were killed in an encounter with the Maharashtra police near Alitola village in Gadchiroli district Maharashtra late night on Monday.

“A joint anti-Naxal operation of the Gadchiroli police, the Gondia district police and the CRPF was going on in Korchi area after some unknown persons set ablaze a gram panchayat building. On a tip-off, a police team rushed to Betkathi village when the Maoists opened fire on them. Seven Maoists were killed when the police retaliated,” Superintendent of Police, Gadchiroli, said in a release.

The deceased included: Viru alias Vinay alias Dulesh Kunjilal Netam (40) of Sawali village, Navin alias Durg Singh Topha (30) of Murkuti village, Lalasu Topha (27)of Gyarapatii village in Korchi tehsil and Shanta Korcha (26) of Kasansur village of Gadchiroli district, Tadami (28) of Gotatola village in Rajnandgaon district and Lalasu alias Bidal (42) from Bastar area of Chhattisgarh.
